Materials Associate (Contract-to-hire)Sigma Design has collaborated with a leading defense technology company seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to join their facility in Costa Mesa, CA. This company specializes in autonomous systems and next-generation defense technologies. This position is contract to hire and full-time onsite. Actual compensation may vary based on the candidate's qualifications and alignment with the rolePrimary Function: The Materials Associate is responsible for supporting shipping, receiving, inventory management, material movement, and warehouse operations to ensure materials and finished products are accurately processed and available to support production and distribution schedules. This role works closely with production, shipping, and other cross-functional teams to maintain inventory accuracy and ensure the timely movement of materials throughout the facility and between company locations as needed. Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:Complete cycle counts and other inventory activities with a strong focus on inventory accuracyMaintain inventory by identifying, labeling, locating, and recording materials and supplies, and reporting shortages or discrepanciesOperate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment to safely move materials and productsCoordinate or perform material transfers between company locations as needed to support production and distribution requirementsExpedite the movement of materials, parts, and assemblies within and between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedulesMaintain an organized, safe, and efficient warehouse and material storage environment.Follow established procedures for the handling, packaging, and transportation of materials, including hazardous materials when applicableAccurately maintain inventory and shipping records using ERP, warehouse management, and other inventory control systemsCollaborate with production, shipping, purchasing, and other cross-functional teams to identify and resolve material or inventory issuesProvide responsive customer service to internal teams and support material needs in a timely mannerAdapt to changing priorities, schedules, and business needs in a fast-paced production environmentFollow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrencesEducation and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)High school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of 2 years of experience as a warehouse associate, materials associate, inventory specialist, or equivalent role preferredAbility to work 1st or 2nd shift and overtime as required based on business needsValid driver's license requiredExperience operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment preferredExperience working in the aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industry preferredFamiliarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, warehouse management systems, and/or inventory control tools preferredFamiliarity with Microsoft Office or similar business software preferredExperience with lot, serial, and/or batch tracking preferredExperience packaging and handling hazardous materials or shipments preferredStrong inventory management and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detailStrong customer service, communication, and teamwork skillsAbility to prioritize tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environmentAbility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules based on business needsAbility to safely and effectively handle materials and operate warehouse equipmentAbility to work onsite and travel between company locations as neededEligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance preferredActive or recent U.S. security clearance preferredCompliance (background check, ITAR, vaccine, etc.)ITAR - Permanent resident of the United States ("U.S. person" as defined by ITAR)Background - Pass a post-offer background verificationWork Environment Standard warehouse/production environment which requires regular sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and moving about the facility. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
