Warehouse Worker

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of duties related to the shipping, receiving, storing and issuing of District supplies, equipment, mail and food; maintain and prepare related records and reports; drive a District vehicle to various locations to deliver goods as assigned.

Basic functions include performing physical and clerical duties involved in packing, storing and shipping supplies; receiving, storing, shipping and delivering materials, supplies and equipment; driving an assigned vehicle to pick-up and deliver supplies, equipment and materials; operating a forklift and other warehouse equipment; utilizing space efficiently and effectively; meeting schedules and time lines; assisting in maintaining inventory; maintaining and preparing routine records and reports; operating a computer and assigned software; understanding and following oral and written instructions; observing legal and defensive driving practices; observing health and safety regulations; and adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing quickly and accurately.

Physical demands include dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and a variety of warehouse equipment; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read a variety of materials; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; walking; lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling heavy objects weighing 50 pounds or more; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist, kneeling and crouching; heavy physical labor; climbing ladders to reach supplies and equipment; warehouse environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work; regular exposure to fumes, dust and odors; evening or varied hours.

Hazards include working around and with machinery having moving parts; working at heights; fumes from vehicle and equipment operation; driving a vehicle during adverse weather conditions; cold from walk-in coolers and freezers.
