Job DescriptionThe Support Services department helps ensure the timely and efficient transport of patients, materials, and equipment throughout the hospital and other assigned locations. The team also supports communication and service coordination for departments including Environmental Services and Engineering.Under the direct supervision of the Support Services Manager, Supervisor, and Lead, this role performs a variety of Patient Transport duties in accordance with established procedures and service standards. This position helps support a high level of patient care and operational efficiency by providing safe, timely, and professional transport services throughout the hospital.ResponsibilitiesTransport patients, materials, and equipment throughout the hospital and assigned locations in a safe, timely, and professional mannerPerform shift preparation duties, including rounding assigned floors and completing downtime tasks as neededSupport department operations in a way that meets and exceeds hospital service expectations and aligns with the organization's code of conductCommunicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical teams to support patient flow and operational needsRecognize and respond appropriately to urgent and changing situations in the hospital environmentAssist with training new Patient Transport team members as assignedMaintain professionalism in communication, appearance, and conductPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsAbility to read, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal directions in English, with sufficient comprehension to understand job-specific forms, documents, signs, symbols, and written instructionsAbility to recognize emergency and urgent situations and respond and communicate clearly so others understandAbility to work well with others, follow instructions, and remain flexible based on hospital needsBLS Certification from the American Heart Association required prior to hireHigh school diploma or GED preferredPrevious patient transport experience preferredBasic math skills preferredKnowledge of the 24-hour time system preferredValid California driver's license required for team members authorized to operate Hoag vehicles
