The City of Westminster is recruiting for a part-time Crossing Guard to join our team!
Crossing Guards direct children going to and from school in crossing streets at assigned street corners during designated hours; maintain discipline among school children when they are approaching a street intersection or crossing the street; determine the safest possible time to cross street; and stops and starts traffic to permit the crossing of school children at a street intersection.
This is a part-time position with a morning and afternoon shift, with hours between 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. Equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED is desirable.
Physical Demands Must possess mobility to work in the field; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform light physical work; hearing and speech to communicate in person. The job involves frequent walking and standing in operational areas. Employees must possess the ability to carry objects up to 5 pounds.
Environmental Elements Employees work in the field and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, and road hazards. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. RETIREMENT: Part-Time Employees participate in the Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) in lieu of Social Security. Employees contribute 6.0% of their salary toward the plan and the City contributes 1.5% of salary as well. SICK LEAVE: Part-Time Employees are entitled to Paid Sick Leave in accordance with the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement "Healthy Workplaces/Healthy Families Act of 2014 Paid Sick Leave". STEP/PAY ADVANCES: Employees that work 500 hours will receive a step advancement.
