Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to support our fast-paced Orthopedics practice in Laguna Woods. In this role, you will manage surgical scheduling for 2-3 providers, coordinate pre- and post-operative care, and submit prior authorizations through insurance portals. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative follow-through, high attention to detail, and a commitment to clear communication with patients and provider teams.

Job Details

• Role Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire
• Location: Laguna Woods, CA (On-site)
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 / hour (commensurate with experience)
• Environment: Business Casual

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage high-volume surgery schedules for 2-3 providers (up to 20 surgeries per week), including pre-op and post-op appointments.
• Submit prior authorizations for procedures through various insurance portals and send scheduling sheets to hospitals or surgical centers.
• Assist with regular appointment scheduling and support the call center/PBX during peak hours or lunch coverage.
• Communicate directly with patients via patient portals, text messages, phone calls, and emails to address scheduling needs and inquiries.
• Maintain continuous, close communication with providers to ensure schedule accuracy and smooth clinical operations.

Required Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of healthcare scheduling experience (surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred; candidates with strong backgrounds in patient scheduling, prior authorization, or insurance verification will also be considered).
• Experience submitting prior authorizations through insurance web portals.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex provider schedules and coordinate orders with PCP offices.
• High level of professionalism, strong attention to detail, and a proactive attitude toward asking for assistance when needed.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in Orthopedics (familiarity with orthopedic anatomy and surgical procedures).
