Administrative Assistant

The City of Newport Beach is seeking one full-time (non-exempt) Administrative Assistant to join the City Manager's Office and provide administrative support to the City Council. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational abilities, strong communication and customer service skills, and a keen attention to detail.

Position Highlights
  • Works closely with the City Manager's Office team in coordinating the administrative operations of the department and assisting the City Council.
  • Maintains calendars, makes appointments, schedules meetings, and coordinates departmental activities.
  • Interacts with elected and appointed officials, department directors, and provides administrative support to City committees.
  • Coordinates department personnel-related matters including payroll.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments.

Schedule
  • This position may work a 5/40 or 9/80 schedule

Retirement

The City offers an excellent benefit package and membership in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The retirement formula is based on appointment date and membership status with CalPERS and the employee is required to contribute 8% (or half the normal cost, whichever is higher) of pay towards the retirement benefit.
