Superintendent

The Superintendent is responsible for the daily activities of all field staff for the construction project. Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Superintendent oversees the day-to-day field operations, establishes and implements safety policies and procedures, coordinates field activities and adheres to the project schedule. Responsible for quality workmanship and project completion within budget.

Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of direct on-site management of construction projects
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 4 years' experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; or 7 years of relevant experience. Or Journeymen license in one of the trade disciplines
  • Builders license in at least one state is a Plus.
  • Read and understand schematics and blueprints and/or technical manuals.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 experience, Procore
  • OSHA 30 a plus
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home as required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Salary is commensurate of education, years of experience, and market

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of architectural design and planning principles and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints and/or technical manuals.
  • Technical knowledge of building components and their function.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Skills in work-flow analysis and management.
  • Knowledge of building components, life cycle values and maintenance requirements.
  • Knowledge of contract documents and specifications.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and/or supervision to subcontractors.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes, ordinances and regulations.
  • Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Ability to perform site inspections and/or approve installations.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
  • Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
  • Moderate physical activity. May require physical effort including lifting up to 25 pounds and some extended periods of standing or walking.
