Children's Residential Counselor (Ages 6 - 13) Job description: New Alternatives is seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our team. New Alternatives works with children and youth at their residential home site who have experienced child abuse. The applicant will gain experience working within a residential treatment setting and will learn the skills necessary for de-escalation, emotional support, and behavioral support with clients at a high level of care treatment placement. Shifts Available: Sunday- Thursday 11 pm-7am Friday - Tuesday 3pm-11pm Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or related field is preferred. Must possess a valid California Driver's License, proof of automobile insurance and have access to reliable automobile at least 6 months of experience working with children (volunteer work is acceptable) Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Provide support to the child and family Ensuring the safety and supervision of the clients. Assist in coordination of transportation of youth. Capability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with the child and family Applicant needs to have patience, compassion, and confidence to work with a population of clients that have severe emotional dysregulation and behavioral instability.
