Under the direction of Bookstore Management, the Warehouse Associate I assists customers by performing job duties throughout Bookstore operations.

Work Schedule
Work shifts will be assigned during regular operating hours, which are generally Monday through Thursday from 7:00am to 7:00pm; Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm, and Saturday 10:00am to 4:30pm. Shifts may vary to include mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, and occasional weekends. These hours may be extended during the start of academic semesters and other peak periods. Warehouse operations run year-round, with increased activity at the beginning of academic semesters. Some campus closure dates, holidays and special events are required. The employee must provide a minimum of 12 hours of availability during academic semesters.
Physical Demands
The employee will frequently need to move boxes, unpack inventory and stock shelves with merchandise. The employee must frequently be able to lift and/or move a minimum of 40 pounds. There will be long periods of time standing on their feet and moving around in a large building, and the employee will be occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, bend at the waist, push or pull, reach above shoulder level, stoop, and kneel. Some use of ladders to ascend/descend is occasionally required.
Work Environment
The employee is typically in a climate-controlled indoor environment within the retail location and frequently has movement throughout the warehouse and outdoors, with exposure to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to noisy. Occasionally the work environment will have high customer traffic at the beginning of each new semester, during sales, etc.
Education and/or experience
The employee must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units. Previous retail, customer service or warehouse experience is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
This position does not require any certificates, licenses or registrations.
Knowledge and Abilities
The employee must demonstrate proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. The employee must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions. The ability to understand and comply with University and Beach Shops policies and procedures is required.
