Job Description Job Description Summary A well-established mechanical contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support commercial HVAC and plumbing projects throughout SoCal. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, vendors, and clients to help drive projects from preconstruction through closeout.The company specializes in technically challenging mechanical projects across healthcare, advanced technology, higher education, commercial, and complex tenant improvement environments. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants exposure to large-scale mechanical systems, design-build coordination, and long-term growth into Project Management.Key Responsibilities • Support Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination and execution• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting notes, and project documentation• Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients throughout project lifecycle• Assist with procurement, material tracking, and equipment lead times• Participate in BIM/VDC coordination and drawing reviews• Track project costs, labor, schedules, and production updates• Help manage project budgets, forecasting, and cost reporting• Support buyout activities and subcontract/vendor coordination• Assist with project scheduling, closeout documentation, and turnover• Attend project meetings and help drive communication across internal and external teams• Work on complex HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems projectsRequirements • 2-8 years of experience in construction project engineering, project management, or mechanical coordination• Mechanical contractor experience strongly preferred• Experience supporting commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, or MEP projects• Understanding of RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation• Exposure to healthcare, life science, advanced technology, industrial, or large commercial projects is a plus• Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Navisworks, or BIM coordination preferred• Strong communication and organizational skills• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment• Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferredCompensation & Benefits • Medical, dental, and vision insurance• Paid holidays and PTO• Stable pipeline of complex local projects
