About the Role

The Company is in search of a Senior Counsel for Regulatory and Government Affairs with a focus on P&C insurance. This business-facing role is pivotal in shaping the company's response to and navigation of the evolving regulatory landscape, particularly in California. The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with business leaders to develop and execute regulatory and legislative strategies that align with the company's objectives. This includes monitoring and assessing insurance regulatory and legislative developments, translating changes into actionable guidance, and supporting the development of policy positions and external messaging. The role also involves engaging with regulators, legislators, and industry bodies to support the company's priorities and building and maintaining relationships with various external partners.Applicants for this role at the company should have a Juris Doctor degree, with a strong preference for those holding a California Bar. A background of approximately 8-15 years in government affairs, insurance regulatory, or public policy is required, with a specific emphasis on P&C insurance experience and knowledge of P&C insurance regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of engaging with regulators, legislators, or industry groups and the ability to operate in a strategic, externally facing, advocacy-driven role. Experience from a carrier, regulator, trade association, or law firm is also essential. The role offers the opportunity for direct involvement in shaping P&C insurance regulatory and legislative outcomes and is highly visible, with a focus on enterprise strategy and senior leadership.
