Description:

Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation matters from inception through trial and post-trial proceedings in state and federal court
  • Draft, prepare, cite-check, and organize pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, and related legal correspondence
  • Track and calculate deadlines under California, federal, and local court rules; maintain accurate case calendars
  • Coordinate written discovery, document productions, and deposition preparation, including notices and subpoenas
  • Prepare trial materials such as exhibit lists, witness lists, trial binders, and jury instructions
  • Support courtroom proceedings, including exhibit management, witness coordination, and trial presentation technology
  • Assist with post-trial motions and filings
  • Support appellate work, including notices of appeal, briefing schedules, and appellate appendices
  • Manage e-discovery and document review using litigation support platforms
  • Utilize trial presentation software and other litigation technology tools
  • Conduct procedural and legal research to ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines


Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of complex litigation experience, including trial support (appellate experience preferred)
  • Experience in California state and federal court practice required
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or equivalent experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of California Civil Procedure, California Rules of Court, Federal Civil Procedure, and Federal Appellate Procedure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems
  • Experience with e-discovery platforms (e.g., Relativity, DISCO or similar) and trial presentation tools
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new litigation systems quickly
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and deadline management
  • Ability to handle high-volume, high-stakes litigation matters with accuracy and accountability
