LOCATION: Irvine, CA | Full-Time | Hybrid (Up to 2 Remote Days/Week)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Linwood Engineering, Inc. (LEi) is seeking a Plumbing Designer to join our growing MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) team in Irvine, CA.

This is a hands-on design role that offers exposure to diverse project types, collaboration with experienced engineers, and a clear path toward leadership opportunities. We're looking for a technically skilled, detail-oriented individual who enjoys problem-solving and contributing to high-performance building design.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Plan and design plumbing systems for a wide range of building types.
• Perform calculations, equipment sizing, system layouts, and specifications.
• Prepare basis-of-design narratives, technical documentation, and construction drawings.
• Research and apply building and plumbing code requirements to ensure compliance.
• Develop coordinated design solutions and communicate effectively with the project team.
• Review drawings and perform QA/QC to maintain technical accuracy and quality standards.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters, supporting their technical growth.
• Manage project deliverables and assist with department production schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)

• 3–5 years of plumbing design experience in an MEP consulting environment.
• Proven experience with plumbing system design for commercial, multifamily, restaurant, retail, hospitality, office, healthcare (HCAi), or higher education projects.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (minimum 2 years professional experience in each).
• Working knowledge of California Building and Plumbing Codes.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft 365 (Teams, Excel, Word, OneNote).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time management and organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certification as a Certified Plumbing Design Technician (CPDT) or Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD).
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) credential.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and Title 24 energy compliance.
• Experience with project management or client coordination.
