Position Summary

The Director of Finance serves as a strategic financial leader and day-to-day business partner to the executive management team of a high-growth, private equity-backed company headquartered in Irvine, California. This role is responsible for providing actionable insights into the financial decision-making process through rigorous analysis, financial projections, and executive-level reporting. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in supporting both organic and acquisition-driven growth strategies.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and works in close partnership with the Executive Management Team, and Private Equity Ownership.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead and own the end-to-end financial budgeting and forecasting process, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
  • Drive monthly reporting deliverables for the Executive Management Team, and Private Equity Owners.
  • Utilize accounting and finance technology systems to gather and analyze data related to employee accounting, financial performance, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Generate reports and provide insights to support strategic decision-making across the Finance & Accounting department, Executive Management Team, and all P&L owners.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level presentation materials that equip Senior Leadership with decision-driving insights, including variance root cause analysis, mitigation strategies, and recommended business decisions.
  • Build and maintain financial models for scenario and sensitivity analysis to support business planning.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning initiatives with financial insights and data-driven recommendations.
  • Present complex financial data in a clear, visually compelling format tailored to executive audiences.

Acquisitions & Integration

  • Support an acquisitive growth strategy by integrating financial data from newly acquired businesses, including those with less sophisticated reporting systems and processes.
  • Develop standardized reporting frameworks to bring acquired entities into alignment with company-wide financial standards.
  • Partner with deal teams and operational leadership to support due diligence, integration planning, and post-close performance monitoring.

Business Partnership & Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor and day-to-day business partner to operating leadership and functional department heads.
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify cost optimization opportunities, revenue drivers, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as directed by the CFO and executive team.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive finance experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior FP&A or finance leadership role.
  • Prior experience in a private equity-backed, multi-site, or high-growth business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead full-cycle budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex financial modeling, formulas, pivot tables, and Power Query.
  • Experience integrating financial data from acquired or less sophisticated business entities.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance audiences.

Preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems and business intelligence/reporting platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Power BI, or similar).
  • Familiarity with PE reporting cadences, investor presentations, and ownership reporting requirements.
  • Experience in a multi-location services, healthcare, or field-operations business.
