Why This Role Exists
This role exists to support Orchid's continued growth in producing precision orthopedic components for trauma, spine, and dental applications.
The CNC Machinist I plays a key role in maintaining consistent, high-quality output across multiple machines in a regulated medical manufacturing environment , where accuracy, documentation, and process discipline matter.
This is an excellent opportunity for machinists early in their careers who want to build strong fundamentals and grow within a world-class medical device organization.
The Work You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
Operate CNC machines to produce precision medical components
Perform basic setups and machining functions with moderate supervision
Run multiple machines simultaneously (CNC lathes, EDM wire, plunge, and manual equipment)
Monitor machine performance to ensure programs are running correctly
Make offsets and minor adjustments as needed
Complete shop work orders, inspection records, and daily maintenance documentation
Follow all Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and work instructions
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork
Report directly to the Area Supervisor
This role is hands-on, structured, and quality-driven.
Machines, Controls & Inspection Tools
You'll work with equipment such as:
CNC Lathes
2- and 3-Axis CNC Machines
EDM Wire & Plunge
Manual machining equipment
Visual inspection tools
Basic metrology and measurement equipment
Quality documentation systems
What We're Looking For
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Willingness to learn CNC machining processes in a regulated environment
Ability to follow work instructions, procedures, and documentation requirements
Comfort working in a team-based manufacturing setting
Preferred (Not Required):
1+ year of machining or manufacturing experience
Exposure to CNC machine operation or setup
Blueprint reading and basic GD&T knowledge
Lean manufacturing experience
Medical device manufacturing experience
Machining trade school or technical training
No prior CNC work experience is required — training and development are provided.
