POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical laboratory Scientist Lead is responsible for the operation of one or more technical sections and/or shifts of the clinical laboratory. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist Lead facilitates the implementation of hospital and laboratory policies and procedures. He/she is responsible for assisting in training new employees, supervising both Clinical Laboratory Scientists and laboratory phlebotomist's workload organization, and monitoring daily maintenance and quality control.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for assisting with the selection of methodology and instrumentation to perform laboratory tests appropriate for the patient population served. Responsible for the validation and implementation of new instrumentation. Ensures the standardization of tests methodologies, procedures, instrumentation, and reference ranges.
2. Verifies test procedures performed and established the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including, but not limited to the linearity, precision and accuracy of each test and test system.
3. Ensures participation in and successful completion of a quality control and approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered. Troubleshoots any problems with the proficiency testing program. Establishes parameters for acceptable level of analytic performance. Ensures that quality is maintained throughout entire testing process from order entry through results reporting.
4. Reviews the work of others to insure that tests are performed in accordance with prescribed standards.
5. Assists in maintaining and optimizing work standards to assure a reasonable turnaround time of test results.
6. Troubleshoots equipment problems.
7. Maintains inventory control of supplies and reagents in his/her section(s).
8. Schedules, organizes and delineates duties of personnel.
9. Assists manager in performance evaluations of the employees in his/her sections.
10. Performs additional duties as directed by the by the Laboratory Director or Manager which are necessary for the efficient operation of the laboratory.

• Bachelor Degree - Science

• 2 years of Clinical Laboratory Experience require, 3 years Clinical Laboratory experience preferred.
• Clinical lab Scientist - CA (CLS) or limited Clinical Lab Scientist - CA

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Proficient with computer.
