Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and create a variety of sushi dishes according to recipes and customer preferences.

- Engage with customers, create relationships
- Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in sushi preparation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate the timing of sushi orders with other menu items.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Stay updated on current food trends and incorporate new techniques and ingredients into sushi creations.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting with guests and addressing any questions or concerns.

Skills: they may have
- Strong culinary skills, with a focus on sushi preparation techniques.
- Knowledge of different types of fish, seafood, and other ingredients used in sushi dishes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent knife skills for precise cutting and slicing of ingredients.
- Experience in menu planning and creating new sushi roll combinations.
- Familiarity with bartending techniques for creating specialty cocktails to pair with sushi dishes.
- Understanding of food production processes, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Proficiency in inventory control to ensure adequate stock levels of ingredients.

- Excellent customer service
- Ability to work well as part of a team and provide leadership when necessary.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the restaurant or food industry is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food preparation.
  • Experience working in fine dining establishments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with catering services is beneficial but not required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining individual accountability for tasks.
  • A passion for culinary arts, particularly Japanese cuisine, with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
