Pay Range Information

Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Working under the supervision of the PI and also independently, the Research Assistant carries out the tasks related to a specific research project-such as collecting and analyzing data, assisting in the preparation of data to submit to granting agencies and providing overall support and leadership to undergraduate student workers. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned depending on the needs of a particular research project.

Responsibilities

Research Data Analysis

  • Use SPSS to examine data files from national and international surveys.
  • Identify which measurement concepts from ARDA's pre-established list are applicable to each individual survey.
  • Provide ready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/or supervisor.
Research Documentation and Preparation
  • Create Word documents that contain formatted labels and descriptions of the survey questions and responses.
  • Ensure label documents meet the webpage publication quality standards of ARDA.
  • Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations.
Research Support
  • Provide administrative support relating to research.
  • Manage and respond to project related emails
  • Attend project meetings
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Summarize project results.
  • Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations.
Required Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of prior research experience, including knowledge of research methods and terminology
  • Experience in using computer-based tools (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehend a process and/or procedure and take a given task from beginning to completion.
  • Ability to work independently, accurately and to problem solve technical and methodological issues that arise during the course of the research.
  • Ability to apply sound research techniques, methodology, and logical critical analysis.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proven ability to reason, prioritize, problem solve, and communicate logically.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience in meeting/event coordination.
