Quality Manager – Utility-Scale BESS Project

📍 Field-Based (On-Site) | 💼 Contract-to-Potential-Direct Hire | 💰 Per Diem Included

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to support a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System(BESS) project. This is a full-time, field-based role requiring a strong civil and electrical construction background and a high level of independence on site.

This position will begin as a contract role, with the client's preference to transition the right individual into a direct hire after strong project performance.

🔎 About the Role

This is not a desk-based QA position. We are looking for someone who can be the boots-on-the-ground quality lead and confidently operate in the field — especially during times when the Construction Manager (CM) is not onsite.

The ideal candidate can:

• Work independently without constant oversight
• Act as the on-site extension of leadership
• Maintain momentum, quality standards, and documentation compliance when the CM is off-site
• Make informed field-level decisions and escalate appropriately

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site quality representative supporting the CM and PM in daily execution.
• Maintain strong field presence overseeing contractors and subcontractors across civil and electrical scopes.
• Inspect and monitor civil work including:
• Earthwork
• Cable trenching
• Roads, grading, foundations, and excavations
• Oversee installation and quality control of:
• Inverters
• Transformers
• BESS equipment pads and related infrastructure
• Ensure contractors submit required quality documentation on time to support turnover and commissioning.
• Manage job books, inspection logs, NCRs, and turnover packages.
• Utilize Procore (or similar construction management platforms) to track documentation and compliance.
• Produce daily/weekly reports communicating progress, risks, and quality concerns to leadership.
• Identify and resolve field quality issues in real time.
• Support enforcement of safety, compliance, and project specifications.

✅ Required Qualifications

• Strong civil construction background with direct experience in:
• Earthwork
• Cable trenching
• Roads and site development
• Utility-scale solar or BESS experience strongly preferred.
• Proven experience as a Quality Manager, QA/QC Lead, or Owner's Representative.
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently on-site when CM or PM are not present.
• Experience managing turnover packages and quality tracking systems.
• Working knowledge of Procore or similar platforms.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.

🎓 Preferred Certifications

• OSHA 30 (OSHA 10 acceptable)
• NFPA 70E
• First Aid/CPR
