School Security Officer
Join Inter-Con in providing dedicated security services to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. As a Security Officer, you will be an integral part of maintaining a secure atmosphere throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a strong visible presence on campus to deter unsafe or unauthorized behavior.
Monitor entrance and exit points to ensure that only authorized individuals access school grounds.
Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors with directions, safety concerns, and inquiries.
Patrol hallways, classrooms, parking areas, and outdoor spaces to identify and address any safety or security issues.
Respond promptly to incidents including accidents, injuries, disturbances, or suspicious activities.
Contact local law enforcement or emergency services when necessary for emergencies.
Support school staff throughout daily operations, assemblies, lunch periods, and during student transitions.
Provide security presence and crowd management during school events and activities held during the day.
Document incidents, maintain accurate daily security logs, and communicate relevant safety concerns with school administrators.
Qualifications:
Must be mentally alert, capable of exercising good judgment, and able to implement instructions effectively.
Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions and write clear, accurate reports.
Capable of monitoring environmental and electronic security systems.
Requirements:
Must undergo a physical examination within six (6) months prior to the assignment.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen within six (6) months of the assignment.
Completion of training in Security and Emergency Procedures, Crowd Control, and Public Relations is required.
Must receive training on state policy regarding drug awareness, sexual harassment, workplace violence, and discrimination.
Successfully complete training for operating electronic computer and/or alarm and communication systems.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
Licensing, Permits & Certifications:
Must have a valid Driver's License or Identification card and carry it while on duty.
If driving is required, a valid Driver's License is necessary.
Completion of First Aid and CPR training, with current certification carried at all times while on duty.
Guard Registration card is also required.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
Must be capable of performing security duties that require moderate to strenuous physical activity.
Good general health without any conditions that would impair performance under contract requirements.
Vision must meet specific criteria, including correctable to 20/30, with no significant loss in hearing.
