Early Stage Collections Specialist

As an Early Stage Collections Specialist, you will play a crucial role in assisting borrowers to navigate their loan repayment options. This position involves contacting borrowers in the initial stages of delinquency (1-59 days) to negotiate payment arrangements and explore alternative solutions tailored to their financial situation. You'll also assist our Customer Service team during high volume days, ensuring that we maintain our commitment to excellent service. All tasks should be performed in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

This role entails a variety of tasks of moderate complexity. You'll engage in collections and customer service activities while continuing to grow your understanding of various mortgage concepts. The target pay for this position is $21.50 per hour plus a monthly incentive bonus, with the opportunity to earn an additional $1.50 per hour if you are fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • Evaluate borrowers' financial capabilities and collect necessary information courteously, striving for resolution in each interaction while adhering to regulations.

  • Guide borrowers through their options by providing education on alternative solutions.

  • Utilize an automated dialing system for both inbound and outbound calls to connect with borrowers.

  • Offer alternatives such as repayment plans, loan modifications, short sales, Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure, and refinancing to borrowers based on their ability to pay.

  • Negotiate suitable payment arrangements with borrowers and explain the necessary documentation for submitting a 'Request for Mortgage Assistance' package.

  • Act as a single point of contact for borrowers when necessary.

  • Escalate cases to a licensed Loss Mitigation associate as required for specific workout details.

  • Provide updates on payments and payoff inquiries, verify payment histories, and manage contact information for servicers.

  • Assist with loan servicing website issues, including payments, access denials, and password resets.

  • Respond to inquiries related to escrow, loss drafts, and closing documents.

  • Provide status updates on a variety of servicing functions such as payment disputes, escrow refunds, short sales, modifications, and refinancing requests.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.

  • Less than one year of collections experience in a customer service or call center environment, or loan servicing experience.

  • Experience in the Banking or Mortgage/Loan Servicing industries is preferred.
