Job Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting plastic injection molded components, and precision machined parts at various stages of production, including receiving, in-process, first article, and final, to ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This role operates under AS9100D and AS9102 guidelines, using precision measurement tools and collaborating closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to maintain the highest quality standards.
Job Location Yorba Linda, CA Mon-Fri 6:30am-3:00pm $20-$25 DOE
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspection & Compliance
- Perform receiving inspections on raw materials, components, and vendor supplied parts, verifying certifications, dimensions, and compliance with purchase orders
- Conduct in-process, first article, and final inspections for molded and machined parts using precision tools
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure compliance
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements
- Maintain lot traceability and review material certification for aerospace compliance
2. Documentation & Reporting - Accurately document inspection results and maintain organized quality records
- Generate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) when required
- Comply with AS9100 document control processes
3. Collaboration & Problem-Solving - Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions with cross-functional teams
- Collaborating with production, engineering, and quality departments to resolve quality issues
4. Tools & Equipment - Utilize calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, optical comparators, CMMs, and other precision tools
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing; aerospace, plastics injection molding, or machining preferred
- Strong understanding of AS9100D and As9102 standards
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Proficient with precision measuring equipment and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation
Preferred: - Experience with CMM programming/operations
- Knowledge of aerospace material specifications and special processes
- Training in root cause analysis and continuous improvement
Physical Requirements - Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods
- Lift up to 25lbs occasionally
- Visual acuity to detect fine details during inspections
