Volunteer To Tutor Online!

  2026-02-04     Learn To Be     Anaheim,CA
Description:

Learn To Be is a 501c3 non-profit bringing free, 1-on-1, online tutoring to underserved youth around the United States. We want to live in a world where all kids have access to a great education — not just those whose families can afford one.

POSITION OVERVIEW

In this role, you'll volunteer as a virtual tutor. You'll work 1-on-1 with the same student(s) each week, building meaningful connections and helping them grow academically over time. You'll set your own schedule, choose the grade levels and subjects you're most comfortable tutoring, and even select the students you'd like to work with. Whether you prefer working with younger students or focusing on specific subjects, you'll have the freedom to create a tutoring experience that fits you. No prior tutoring or teaching experience is required. We simply look for individuals who believe deeply in educational equity.

WHY TUTOR WITH LTB?

  1. Change a kid's life for the better: When you help underserved kids do better in school, you can change the course of their lives.
  2. It's more than service: In addition to signing off on community service hours, we can help you develop leadership skills, plug into a community of professionals, and take the first step toward building a career in helping others.
  3. Flexibility: Volunteering with LTB is fully remote and on your own schedule. Tutoring sessions can occur any day of the week meaning you'll be able to balance volunteering with LTB with your other commitments.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Select the student(s) you would like to work with from a queue of available students in need of a tutor.
  • Communicate directly with your student and their parent/guardian to determine the best schedule for lessons. Establish the best way to stay in touch and communicate with them regularly.
  • Commit to tutoring 1-2x per week for at least a semester (12-15 weeks).
  • Support your student/s through homework help, test prep, and engaging lesson plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 14 years old and in high school
  • Reside in the United States
  • Consent to a public record background check
  • Understanding of technology or the ability to learn quickly
  • Responsible and reliable
  • Organized and a good communicator
  • Flexible & empathetic to students from differing circumstances
