Job Title: Building Engineer

Job Description

The Building Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across various systems. The role requires technical expertise in at least two craft areas such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Hydraulics, and/or Central Utility Plant Operations, while having proficient knowledge in others. The work schedule is from 6am to 3pm.

Responsibilities

  • Support the activities, building structure, and development track at the Facility in Carson, California.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and monitor repairs of the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, Hydraulic, and Control systems to ensure they meet applicable standards.

  • Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical support.

  • Maintain and repair equipment through cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts to ensure optimal performance levels.

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in gathering information for and submitting the Annual OCP, ensuring a minimum score of 3.5 or higher.

  • Work at heights up to 26 feet and adapt to changing environmental temperature extremes.

  • Perform overhead work while standing on a ladder.

  • Lift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Perform duties independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ensure regular and predictable attendance to support team and client needs.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least 5 years of commercial facility maintenance experience.

  • Possess CFC Universal Certification.

  • Certification in at least two of the following disciplines: Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Hydraulics, and/or Central Utility Plant Operations.

  • Ability to log in and out of multiple software programs using a laptop and smartphone to manage and track operations, electronic work orders, and email communication.

  • Proficiency in basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to independently plan work assignments.

  • Capability to troubleshoot clearly, calmly, and safely in the presence of guests and fellow team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in plant operation and preventive maintenance.

  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems.

  • EPA Universal Certification.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
