OVERVIEW:

The Seamstress/Uniform Attendant assess quality of all linen and uniforms by inspecting garment for rips and stains. Assist employees with accepting and distributing uniforms Perform daily repairs on employee uniforms including, but not limited to, repairing rips, replacing zippers, and changing/replacing trim. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of sewing equipment and all other areas under his/her control.

Seamstress/Uniform Attendant Responsibilities

• Perform basic sewing skills (i.e., putting in a zipper with a sewing machine, machine buttonholes, etc.
• Measure and sew on industrial machines
• Fit/alter uniforms for employees in a timely manner
• Take care of basic alterations requested by guests
• Inform the supervisor for replenishing sewing supplies
• Repair and maintain to standard uniforms for all hotel employees
• Convert discarded linen into usable items for re-circulation in the back of the house
• Ensures that all linen and uniforms are repaired before issuing them to staff
• Previous experience working with a variety of fabric types
• In addition to seamstress, as a uniform attendant you will be a part of the wardrobe team to maintain and finish uniforms in a timely manner, adhering to Company policies and procedures.
• Ensures area is clean and organized at all times.

• At least one year of experience operating industrial sewing machines
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, and design
• Ability to cut from both patterns and markers
• Ability to take accurate measurements (i.e., measurements with tape for length of skirts, sleeve lengths, torso measurements, etc.) and alter costumes accordingly
• Straight stitch and "overlock" (invisible stitching) experience
• Knowledge of merrow and hemmer devices
• Ability to follow patterns
• Ability to take accurate measurements and to communicate with team regarding fittings
• Previous experience working with a variety of fabric types
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• Highly responsible & reliable
• Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team

• Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
• Ability to follow all safety procedures/standards and able to recognize and act in emergency situations.
• Position may be required to work varied schedule that may include evenings/nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to arrive to work on time.

• Previous professional training in tailoring skills preferred
• Experience in the hospitality industry preferred
• Experience in 4 Diamond Rated Hotel preferred
• Must be able to walk/stand for long periods of time
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be able to work days, nights and weekends.
• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps

• Able to communicate effectively in English/Spanish preferred, both verbally and in writing.
• Able to effectively deal with internal and external guests, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
