TGB3 is seeking to contract a Medical Assistant to assist practitioners performing Compensation & Pension Exams (C&P) for our military Veterans at various sites through the USA.

  • Length : One Year with option to extend
  • Start Date : August 15, 2023, HARD START
  • Hours : Mon-Fri, Full Time / 40 hours per week, 8am to 4p unless otherwise noted
  • Location : Tustin, CA
  • Pay : $18 hourly
  • The VA has requested that we have someone for each gender available to accompany Veterans during certain sensitive exams. This position requires a MALE

Contract Description

Assist Practitioners performing one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for Veterans, while acting as an Administrative and Medical Assistant. Job responsibilities will include performing ancillary services such as: pulmonary function tests (PFT), ankle brachial index (ABI) and electrocardiograms (EKG). Administrative duties include greeting Veterans, effectively managing office functions, ensuring exam entry is complete, answering the phone, supply inventory and other duties as assigned.

Phlebotomist / MA

Perform requested labs

Labs will be sent to LabCorp or Quest for testing

Perform EKGs, ABIs and PFTs

Training will be required and offered for all staff members performing PFTs

EKG manuals are available on location so staff are familiar with the equipment used.

Attend exams with Practitioner as a chaperone.

Administrative Assistant

Greet the Veterans and show them to the exam room

Report any no-shows to client

Keep the facility tidy

Obtain ancillary results from the practitioners

Track completed and pending exams to ensure they are submitted within 48 hours via the Provider Portal

Please note, MA / Admin duties may cross over for various administrative needs which is why both descriptions / requirements are listed

Education / Qualifications
  • Qualified candidates must possess a phlebotomy certification from an accredited training course, when mandated by state requirements.
  • Qualified candidates must possess organizational and problem-solving skills, exceptional communication, and customer service skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Qualified candidates must possess a welcoming, friendly, and professional disposition as they are the first person to be seen by Veteran upon entering facility for appointment.
  • Individuals must be able to work independently and as part of a team, have good interpersonal skills and a willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing situations.
  • Candidates must possess basic computer skills. This job may require sitting for long periods of time, bending, twisting, and occasionally lifting more than 10 pounds.
