Caltrans Electronics Specialist

Description:

Under general supervision from the Caltrans Electronics Specialist Supervisor or Caltrans Electrical Supervisor, the incumbent will perform electrical and electronic installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on equipment related to traffic signals and other State electrical facilities. The incumbent will be perform perform equipment repairs for other Districts within Caltrans, performing benchwork repairs down to electronic circuits component levels. The incumbent may also be used for various field and support functions.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Electronics Specialist (Repair Laborator) exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Working Conditions

Position located at 7300 E Bandini Bl, Commerce, CA 90040, Los Angeles County .

Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

This position is primarily a shop position, but the employee may be required to work in a wide range of weather conditions, including heat up to 120 degrees, cold to 30 degrees, strong winds, rain, dust, noise and uneven surfaces. Abnormal workweeks can be established. Willingness to stay abreast of current technological changes in the field of electricity and electronics.

Incumbent may be scheduled to work weekends and/or night shift as needed to meet operational needs with proper advance notice. May be requested to work overtime due to emergencies, special work projects, or when the Department deems that it is in the best interest of the State to work overtime with proper advance notice.
