Entry Level - Start ASAP - Sanitation Associate

As a Sanitation Associate, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all plant surfaces and equipment. You will work under the guidance of the Sanitation Manager and Quality Assurance team, following GMP and SSOP protocols to support food safety programs, including USDA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Execute GMP and SSOP procedures effectively and secure cleaning chemicals properly.
  • Follow Lock-out/Tag-out and IIPP safety protocols and maintain sanitation logs and pest control records.
  • Prevent cross-contamination and water damage.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and trash areas.
  • Lead by example in uniform, hygiene, and safety compliance.
  • Assist in water conservation and equipment preparation.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or missing parts promptly.

Essential Skills

  • Basic Food Handler certification.
  • Knowledge of food processing.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift 3040 lbs and work on feet.
  • Reliability, flexibility, and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent attendance and customer service mindset.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Experience working closely with food.
  • Ability to perform janitorial duties and general labor tasks.
  • Understanding of food safety and manufacturing processes.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs continuously, 40 lbs frequently, and exert up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Capability to stand, walk, and sit frequently, and use hands and arms for handling and reaching continuously.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English; Spanish is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is in a food manufacturing setting with exposure to various smells, wet floors, and must adhere to GMP PPE guidelines. The facility experiences extreme temperatures ranging from 35F85F, and involves working near moving mechanical parts, with continuous contact with sanitation water up to 150F. The atmosphere includes frequent vibration and moderate noise levels.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.25 - $21.50/hr.
