Human Resources Generalist

As a Human Resources Generalist, you will serve as a vital link between staff and leadership, handling a variety of HR responsibilities with professionalism and compassion. Your expertise will support key functions such as employee relations, benefits administration, policy development, compliance, training, and performance management. You will work closely with leadership to promote our core valuesService, Dignity, Justice, and Excellencein every aspect of your work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Employee Relations (30%): Provide guidance and support to leadership and staff on employee relations issues, including coaching, disciplinary actions, exit interviews, and recognition programs. Foster a positive work environment by promoting open communication and addressing workplace concerns with professionalism.
- Benefits & Leave Administration (30%): Manage leave of absence processes via third-party vendors, oversee benefits administration including claims resolution and open enrollment, and communicate benefit updates effectively to staff.
- HR Administration & Compliance (15%): Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks in accordance with legal standards. Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, manage records for Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) reporting, and support audits and regulatory submissions.
- Training & Development (15%): Collaborate with leadership to identify training needs, develop onboarding materials, and facilitate employee development programs. Keep training materials current and evaluate program effectiveness for continuous improvement.
- Payroll Support (10%): Assist with payroll processing and related functions as needed, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Additional Responsibilities: Support credentialing and privileging processes for clinical staff, maintain HRIS records, prepare required reports, and contribute to organizational risk management efforts.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- At least 1 year of professional HR experience (relevant experience may substitute for education)
- Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Human Resources or related field
- Experience in healthcare or community health settings
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Certification such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
