Position Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for leading the technical strategy, design, development, and implementation of a scalable, cloud‑based data and analytics platform for the UCI Health enterprise. The incumbent will work on a multidisciplinary team of developers within the Enterprise Data and Analytics Department and IT and will collaborate with other units across the University of California Health in order to support the UCI Health enterprise vision. The incumbent will administer, implement, and manage the platform solution to facilitate the effective use of UCI Health data for current and future needs. Initial projects will include the design and implementation of an infrastructure migration to AWS along with future expansion of the data platform for dynamic reporting and advanced analytics capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong track record of successfully leading the technical strategy, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Enterprise Data Solutions.
  • Experience working with stakeholders across multiple IT systems and teams within a large enterprise.
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation within a centralized code repository and database modeling tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of Big Data solutions architecture and management including establishing best practices and processes.
  • 5+ years hands‑on experience with Data Pipelines, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, and Data Systems Integration.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects at the same time.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable, cost‑efficient, and cohesive data solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience establishing a modern data enterprise solution ingesting and integrating data from multiple heterogeneous sources with advanced analytics capabilities (e.g., NLP, ML).
  • Ability to work in an agile team structure.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in pipeline orchestration tools, logging, monitoring & alerting, troubleshooting, and automated testing & deployments (CI/CD), preferably using AWS services.
