Overview

Our Dining Room Servers lead the quality, professionalism, positive guest relations, and first-class entertainment and performance of the meal service to our guests. The Server motivates co-workers in providing the WOW Factor level of service to Lawrys guests. Each Server must become thoroughly familiar with the procedural and technical details of Lawry's professional and friendly service including: menu items, table-side preparations, cash controls, suggestive selling techniques, appearance standards, and guest interactions.

Essential Functions

• Consistently and sufficiently meet Lawrys standards as an ambassador of the restaurant with our guests, including inspiring the WOW Factor level of service, providing and exuding quality, professionalism, positive guest relations, and first-class entertainment and performance.
• Comply with all of Lawrys employment-related policies and procedures; including accurate records of hours worked, breaks, and tip income in TMX, communication of shift changes, tardiness, or absence; and behavior consistent with the companys desire to maintain a workplace free of incidents of co-worker harassment, discrimination, drug or alcohol abuse.
• Orchestrate among the assigned foodservice co-workers, timely introduction of guests, description of food and beverage selections, expedient delivery of meal service, verification of meal satisfaction, any resolution of guest issues, the final presentation of the correct bill, payment processing and delivery of accurate cash change or charge receipts, and assistance with guests readiness to depart the restaurant, signaling the end of service.
• Greet, guide, and accommodate individual and special needs of guests in a confident, well-spoken and succinct manner, while following Lawrys standard operating procedures for delivery of the finest dining and entertainment experience to our guests; including table-side salad preparation, serving dishes, and beverages along with Carver and Dining Room Helper. Gracefully manage service for four (4) or more parties at the same time without sacrificing quality, attitude or negatively affecting the guests experience.
• Express and exchange ideas in spoken and written English in an above-average manner both with co-workers and guests, including writing orders, requests, reservations, or instructions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Lawrys Restaurants, including family history, locations, service and meal hours, and frequent diner benefits.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the menu items to assist guests in their wine, meal, and dessert selections, using informed, tantalizing descriptions and effective selling techniques.
• Demonstrate effective teamwork and cooperation with co-workers, management, vendors, and/or suppliers; including sharing a reasonable portion of tips with co-workers who assist in providing guests service.
• Demonstrate competency in POS and TMX computer systems and basic math calculations.
• Be dressed in a clean, designated uniform and acceptable footwear, ready to begin at the start of all scheduled shifts, and work until the end of scheduled shifts, unless authorized by management for approved shift or work schedule change.
• Perform other competencies and duties as assigned, such as side-work, properly clean and maintain assigned work areas, or administrative projects.
• Attend all mandatory co-worker meetings, training, informational, and education sessions.

Position Qualifications

• Shows confidence, energy, and enthusiasm with a professional, clean appearance, and a friendly, helpful, approachable demeanor.
• Legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• Satisfactory physical and mental health to perform the requirements of the job, and to work with the public in compliance with applicable foodservice health and safety regulations.
• Able to perform the essential functions of the assigned position with or without reasonable accommodation, and within company policy.
• Able to stand and walk for up to eight (8) hours during a shift (with limited breaks); carry up to 30 lbs. and exert up to 50 lbs. of force without straining; and sustain repetitive motions of legs, feet, waist, back, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Able to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position such as, but not limited to:
• Tray with salad service = 14.8 lbs.; must be lifted from hip level to shoulder level and carried
• Dinner plate with meal = approx. 4.4 lbs.
• Wine bottle = 3 lbs.
• Coffeepot for 2 persons = 2.5 lbs.
• Bus tub full of salad dressing holders = 12.2 lbs.
• Bus tub full of salad dressing holders = 19.2 lbs.
• Napkins wrapped in 2 stacks of 50 each = 11.5 lbs.
• Plastic bin of silverware for replenishment = 10.2 lbs.
• Be available and willing to work all scheduled shifts within the priority scheduling and seniority systems as established at each location, including working weekends and holidays.
• Basic knowledge of wines, vintages, and wine pairings, as well as proper handling and storage of wines, and use of bottle opener (i.e. cork-screw and foil-cutter).
• Capable of multi-tasking, leading and communicating with others, able to express and exchange ideas in spoken and written English in an above average manner.
• Capable of establishing rapport in conversational English that is consistent with our fine dining atmosphere. This includes the ability to communicate at a sophisticated and mature conversational level, exhibit poise and comfort tableside with our guests and understand the nuances of conversational English.
• Basic math proficiency.
• Able to wear the required uniform.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Experience

• At least two (2) years of tableside restaurant service experience, preferably in fine dining; or equivalent customer service experience.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current Local/State Food Handlers Training Certifications as required
• Current Local/State Alcohol Beverage Service Training Certifications as required.

Computer Skills

• Basic familiarity with computers, POS systems, calculators, and touch screens.

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred. Some college or culinary education is beneficial.

Salary Range: $16.50-$17/hour
