Ohio Virtual Academy Guidance Counselor

Guidance Counselors promote student success by providing preventive services and responsive interventions that support students academic, personal/social, and career development. Counselors develop and implement a comprehensive guidance program, provide responsive services to students, and provide systemic support to staff and families. Counselors are responsible for delivering a curriculum that meets the needs of the students and the requirements of the state and the district. Counselors also provide leadership and support to staff and families.

Essential Functions:

• Delivers individual and group counseling to students
• Analyzes student data to identify trends and needs
• Develops and implements a comprehensive guidance curriculum
• Provides responsive services to students
• Collaborates with teachers and staff to support student success
• Provides leadership and support to staff and families

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid State of Ohio Guidance Counselor License
• Masters degree in Counseling or related field
• One year of previous counseling experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based research tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with DASL
• Experience with distance learning
• Advanced courses in counseling and/or administration
• Experience as a 7-12 teacher
• Experience in a community services role
• Experience with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
• Experience in a community school environment

Work Environment:
