Job Overview

We seek an experienced Senior Payroll Accountant responsible for managing all aspects of payroll for a designated employee group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable laws. This role requires strong payroll knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll, including calculations for hours, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
• Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax processing and reporting, including federal, state, and local taxes.
• Maintain employee records, including personnel files, timecards, and benefits information.
• Reconcile payroll-related journal entries and manage payroll tax reports such as 941, 940, W-2, W-3, and state unemployment reports.
• Address employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and conduct regular payroll data audits.
• Assist with year-end activities like W-2 processing and stay updated on payroll laws.
• Implement internal controls to safeguard payroll data and support special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of payroll processing experience.
• Deep knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
• Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, BambooHR) and HRIS systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Skills

• Professional certifications such as CPP or FPC.
• Experience managing multi-state payrolls and unionized environments.
