Base pay range
$61.00/hr - $62.00/hr
Payrate: $ 61 .00 - $62.00/hr.
Summary:
The main function of a CARB OBD Certification Testing Engineer is to work and validate the OBD related powertrain system within vehicles. They are responsible to test within an establish process for official OBD Certification testing and software validation and encouraged to continuously improve it for the long term. Furthermore, they are responsible to conduct other OBD and powertrain related testing and validation activities (i.e., Emissions, PVE and/or OBD Demonstration Testing).
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute process for large Certification testing projects involving emissions and OBD
- Perform the validation of released or soon to be released software for US market light-duty gasoline, diesel and hybrid vehicles.
- Plan and conduct testing of gasoline or diesel powertrains in the areas of combustion, emissions control and OBD.
- Perform root cause analysis of issues and discuss countermeasures in a team setting.
- Plan and support emissions or OBD testing activities and coordinate overall emission or OBD validation projects.
- Perform analysis of conducted testing in respective areas and create reports for internal and external stakeholders (including CARB)
- Perform analysis of certification related software changes and create reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Present results and findings to upper management and other important stakeholders
Requirements:
- Detail-oriented mindset and strong project coordination skills required.
- Experience with light-duty gasoline and diesel engine control units, especially Bosch control units
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience of CARB OBD2 regulations and/or vehicle electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience in OBD2 monitor development (i.e. design or calibration) and testing
- Strong understanding of light-duty gasoline and diesel emissions regulations
- Proficient with data acquisition and development tools/languages such as INCA, MATLAB and/or Python (VBA also beneficial).
- Ability to author clear and concise technical reports for a wide, global audience
- Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years' of related experience

- Diagnostics or vehicle diagnostic background/ Enjoys being in the car and running test cases
Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $61.00 - $62.00/hr. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience and the benefits package you select. Fulltime employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
