Instrumentation & Controls engineers play a vital role in integrating automation, monitoring, and control technologies into treatment facilities, pump stations, and distribution networksensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and specify instrumentation and control systems for water, wastewater, and recycled water facilities
  • Develop control narratives, I/O lists, and P&IDs
  • Coordinate with electrical and mechanical teams to integrate I&C systems into overall project designs
  • Prepare construction documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Support SCADA system design and integration, including PLC programming coordination
  • Assist with field investigations, system testing, and commissioning support
  • Collaborate with vendors, integrators, and contractors to ensure proper equipment selection and installation
  • Review submittals and respond to RFIs during construction
  • Participate in client meetings and provide technical input on automation strategies
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Systems Engineering
  • 515 years of experience in instrumentation and controls for water/wastewater infrastructure
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLCs, HMIs, and telemetry systems
  • Experience preparing I&C design documents and specifications
  • Strong understanding of control system architecture and communication protocols
  • Effective communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines
Desired Skills
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Schneider, or Siemens PLC platforms
  • Familiarity with Wonderware, Ignition, or similar HMI/SCADA software
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for control systems
  • Experience with field commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Exposure to sustainable design and energy-efficient control strategies
  • Ability to mentor junior staff or lead small design efforts

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $90,000.00 - $160,000.00/yr.
