LVN II Position at CHOC Urgent Care

The LVN II is accountable and responsible for selected aspects of patient care for a designated group of patients within the LVN scope of practice, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The LVN practice is assigned, delegated, and supervised by a RN or MD who has overall responsibility for the coordination and management of care.

This position will work at CHOC's new Urgent Care Clinic located in Irvine, CA. On-site training will take place at the Urgent Care at our main campus in Orange for the first few weeks of employment. This is a requirement. While the primary work location is our Irvine Urgent Care, occasional floating to the Orange-campus location may be required based on staffing and census. Flexibility is essential. Location hours: Sunday - Saturday 10am - 10pm (365 days a year). Candidates must be okay with rotating weekend and holiday shifts. Selected candidates will be required to start on August 11th.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum one (1) year of LVN experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
  • Preferred: Urgent Care experience in a pediatric and/or a general Urgent Care setting.

Education:

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited school for Licensed Vocational Nursing.

  • Required: Knowledge and ability to provide age appropriate patient care and cultural and spiritual needs.   • Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish both written and verbal.

Licensure:

  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS); Licensed Vocational Nurse - CA (LVN); Ped Emerg Assess Recog & Stabil (PEARS) - must be completed within 6 months of hire.

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

  • Medium - High energy level
  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
  • Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher)
  • Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs. (ie. Patient)
