Job Overview:

The Estimator supports the preparation of accurate, competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role requires prior estimating experience, a solid understanding of construction methods, basic constructability, and schedule impact awareness. The Estimator works under senior guidance but is expected to own specific scopes, perform quantity takeoffs, and contribute to bid strategy and execution.

Responsibilities:

• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop scope sheets.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids for completeness and write scope clarifications.
• Assist with bid leveling, comparisons, and tracking addenda and RFI responses.
• Prepare internal estimate documents.
• Collaborate with the project team to evaluate constructability and scheduling during preconstruction.

Requirements:

• Experience in estimating commercial construction projects, familiarity with CSI divisions, drawing/spec review, and trade-specific scopes.
• Knowledge of constructability and construction sequencing impacts on schedule and cost.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 2-5 years estimating experience in commercial construction; experience with general contracting or construction management firms is preferred.

Skills:

• Proficient in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
• Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, takeoff software, and estimating templates.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Abilities:

• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively.
• Capable of identifying value engineering opportunities and understanding schedule impacts.

Certifications:

OSHA 10 preferred; familiarity with LEED or DBIA principles is a plus.

Qualifications:

Experience with projects in healthcare, higher education, or entertainment sectors; familiarity with Procore, Building Connected, or similar tools is advantageous.

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based with occasional site visits and pre-bid meetings. Standard hours, with extended hours during major bid periods.
