Job Summary
The Liner Operations Maintenance and Repair Manager is responsible for oversight of day-to-day Maintenance and Repair (M&R) activities, vendor monitoring, and maintenance planning at assigned terminals.

Primary Objectives

• Monitor maintenance status of company equipment in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and company policy.
• Ensure equipment is available and fully capable of meeting customer requirements and business demands.
• Review and monitor repair work to ensure work is performed to the highest standard possible and within contacted service agreements..
• Manage maintenance and repair programs, initiatives, and practices with a focus on safety and cost management.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direction and oversight of maintenance and repairs of containers, chassis and power equipment.
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with customers, suppliers, and vendors in assigned locations.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of terminal operations and maintenance procedures and policies.
• Review, approve, and audit repair estimates submitted by maintenance vendors.
• Manage invoicing related to all maintenance activity.
• Manage installation, repair, and ongoing maintenance programs for electronic equipment tracking devices.
• Analyze chassis and container equipment needs as cargo moves between terminals.
• Manage Request for Proposal (RFP) processes including development of RFP documentation, vendor evaluation, and recommendations for selection.
• Audit vendors to ensure quality repairs are being made and billed properly.
• Manage reefer monitoring process of all refrigerated containers.
• Act as the primary point of contact for Sales, Operations, and Finance teams on daily M&R issues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Maritime Operations or related field or equivalent combination of coursework and experience in directly related field required

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid state-issued driver license and acceptable driving record required
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required

Work Experience

• 5+ years of related container or terminal M&R experience required
• 2+ year of supervisory experience in the area of equipment maintenance and repair preferred
• Experience with labor union management preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of container terminal operations and M&R best practices.
• Knowledge and understanding of cargo moving in and out of terminals on the West Coast.
• Strong mechanical knowledge in the areas of containers, reefers, gensets, chassis, heavy lift machines and on- and off-highway tractors.
• Ability to react quickly and knowledgeably in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to analyze issues and situations and make effective business decisions that are in the best interest of customers and employees
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, vendors, and labor groups.

Working Environment
This role requires work that may involve the following environmental conditions:

• Vessel and terminal environment - includes moving, shifting surfaces, and active production areas including moving vehicles, equipment, and machinery.
• Outdoor/open environments which may involve high/low temperatures, humidity and inclement weather conditions.
• Work days and hours may vary to accommodate operations.

Travel
10% Must be able to travel independently between local office and port facilities and other U.S. locations including Hawaii.

Starting pay will be determined by job-related factors including experience, education, and business needs and may be modified at any time.

Zone 2: $90,000 - $110,000
This job is also eligible for participation in an Incentive Plan with a target payout based on eligible compensation and corporate/individual performance goal attainment.
Annual Incentive Opportunity: 10% of eligible compensation
