Job Summary

As an Intake Coordinator at AmeriPharma, you will be responsible for processing initial patient referrals, including verifying insurance benefits, determining eligibility for referrals, and coordinating new admissions with nursing and pharmacy departments.

Schedule Details
  • Location: On-Site (Laguna Hills, CA)
  • Hours: Monday-Friday. Multiple shifts are available and can be discussed further during the interview. Shifts may start as early as 5:00 AM and run as late as 6:00 PM-flexibility is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure all referrals are complete and accurate.
  • Verify insurance benefits thoroughly before passing the referral to the pharmacy staff.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding the status of referrals and documentation requests.
  • Notify patients, families, and referral sources of coverage and payment responsibilities when necessary.
  • Respond to inquiries from patients and referral sources via telephone, fax, and electronic data interfaces.
  • Document all requests, conversations, and progress notes in the patient's clinical record for seamless care coordination.
  • Maintain professional etiquette and courtesy when interacting with customers and consumers.
  • Adhere to all regulatory compliance areas, policies, procedures, and AmeriPharma's best practices.
  • Assist the pharmacist, nurse, and patient with clinical and technical support.
  • Collaborate with a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and Registered Nurses to ensure quality patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy and medical benefits.
  • Familiarity with prior authorization requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, telephone customer service, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexible availability to meet job demands.
Education Requirements
  • At least 2 years of previous Specialty Pharmacy experience required.
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Pharmacy Technician License (highly preferred but not required).
  • Spanish-speaking skills (highly preferred but not required).
  • CPR certification and experience (highly preferred but not required).
  • Previous experience in Specialty Intake for IV Medications. (IG experience highly preferred).
