POSITION OVERVIEW
TransGrid Energy is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Asset Management to be responsible for a broad range of activities focused on leading, executing and enhancing the company's Asset Management platform across various organized wholesale markets. This role involves extensive collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to advance strategic objectives through comprehensive analysis, evaluation, and execution of both short- and long term goals.
You will lead the Asset Optimization and Asset Operations functions which includes ensuring TGE's portfolio of assets are efficiently participating in wholesale markets with a specific focus on monetizing merchant revenue streams such as energy, capacity, and RECs. This role requires data driven decision making, conducting quantitative analysis, seamless operational execution, and implementing risk mitigation strategies for utility scale BESS and solar assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead all aspects of Asset Management, including Operations, Maintenance, and market participation, to maintain high performance and availability of TGE's renewable energy portfolio.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize returns from operating BESS and solar projects by optimizing merchant revenues and enhancing offtake agreements.
- Lead and manage the team of power markets analysts by setting standards and ensuring delivery of robust analytical support across US power markets where TGE has its operating assets.
- Serve as a subject matter expert of the RTO markets, FERC, and other policies and regulations impacting storage and solar projects value to analyze how contractual, market, and regulatory changes will affect TGE's assets and/or business, formulate sound recommendations on how to address, and advise executive leadership accordingly.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and negotiate bilateral commodities contracts.
- Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses of regulatory and policy changes to assess their impact on the operations and performance of the company's assets and ensure internal and external compliance obligations are achieved.
- Closely coordinate and collaborate with Asset Management team to structure commercial transactions for merchant energy, capacity, RECs and/or other commodities, across various regions and tenors.
- Develop and manage contractual agreements and relationships with EPC companies, O&M Providers, and BESS/PV long term service agreements to incorporate into Asset Management operating plan.
- Collaborate with C-suite executives to align on strategic initiatives, provide market updates, and present data-driven insights for decision-making.
- Support corporate growth through due diligence in project M&A and financing activities. Engage with industry experts, consultants, and operational personnel to support the development, implementation, and integration of the company's enterprise-wide strategy in energy markets.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business, economics, finance, environmental science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 or more years of experience in functions related to Asset Management, participation in organized wholesale markets, stakeholder processes, and energy market participation.
- Extensive experience analyzing complex commercial and regulatory structures using data to support decision-making.
- Strong knowledge and experience with utility-scale battery and solar technologies.
- Proven track record in leading cross-functional project teams and implementing multiple projects.
- In-depth understanding of energy markets, including deregulated energy markets related to both physical operations and regulatory structures.
