Workforce Relations provides strategic guidance and oversight across the enterprise in the areas of labor and employee relations, HR investigations, HR policy and compliance, and leaves administration. Your Role on the Team Reporting to the Leaves Administration Manager, the Leaves Payroll Coordinator accurately analyzes employee data and submits entries in time and attendance and payroll systems in order to accurately compute payments of salary and wages to employees on leave of absence. Effectively analyzes payroll data in order to compute accurate retroactive payments and submit manual corrections for employees when required. Enters employee data into time and attendance and payroll database. Reviews assigned employee documents for accuracy and conformance with bargaining union contracts, university staff policies and procedures, applicable federal and state labor code regulation, etc. Audits a variety of HR and payroll logs, personnel transactions and reports and provides recommendations to expedite corrections when necessary. Provides responses to benefits and leave analysts inquiries regarding accruals and time reporting. Communicates with department staff and management, campus payroll staff, human resources staff and management and others as needed to clarify and/or resolve discrepancies. Provides education to managers and staff related to the payroll system, the time and attendance system, university policies and procedures, and leave and accrual related articles in the labor agreements. Assesses departments' needs for additional education on "time and attendance" system management. Required: Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role supporting an HR system is preferred for this position. Minimum 3 years of professional experience in an office setting. Working knowledge of many payroll processes, policies, and procedures; knowledge of organization-specific computer application programs. Demonstrated judgment and decision-making skills; verbal, written and active listening communication skills. Uses interpersonal skills and service orientation skills in interactions with customers and colleagues. Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task. Problem solving, problem identification and reasoning skills. Intermediate mathematical skills. Ability to provide high level of service and adapt to shifting priorities. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to build relationships, collaborate and problem solve across all levels of the organization. Ability to communicate effectively and with confidence. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training Preferred: Knowledge of UCI organization, UC policies, procedures, and structure Knowledge of UCI payroll personnel system and procedures. PMP, AGILE, PHR, SHRM or equivalent project management, HR and/or HR systems certifications. Special Conditions: This position may be required to report at different work sites between the campus in Irvine and medical center in Orange. The incumbent must be able to provide their own means of transportation to/from work locations.
