VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES ADVERTISEMENT **Information Technology Specialist III** Working Title: Information Security Officer Position #: 00384 The Department of Criminal Justice Services is a dynamic agency that supports all aspects of the criminal justice system. We are seeking an experienced information security professional to serve as the agencys Information Security Officer in Richmond, Virginia. The Information Security Officer will develop and manage the agencys information security program. * Service as the Information Security Officer and IT security subject matter expert for the agency.

* Develop and manage the agencys information security program.

* Verify and validate that all agency IT systems and data are classified for sensitivity.

* Develop and maintain an information security awareness and training program for agency staff, including contractors and IT service providers.

* Implement and maintain the appropriate balance of preventative, detective and corrective controls for agency IT systems commensurate with data sensitivity, risk and systems criticality.

* Mitigate and report all IT security incidents and take appropriate actions to prevent recurrence.

* Review IT procurements for relevant security requirements and provide guidance.

**What the ideal candidate must possess:**

* Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, management, and IT staff.

* Have the ability to demonstrate an understanding of Cyber Security topics and resources available to proactively identify Threat Actors.

* Information security experience including extensive experience in security policy knowledge and design, risk management activities like Business Impact Analysis, Continuity of Operations Plan, and Risk Assessments.

* Knowledge of security in a government environment where a third party performs infrastructure services.

* Knowledge of and experience with SaaS and COTS solutions.

* Previous experience as an Information Security Officer or Information Security Analyst.

* Demonstrated ability in leadership, organization, people, and business management skills.

* Attention to detail.

* Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.

**What the preferred candidate would possess:** ? A post-secondary education to include associates, bachelors, masters, or other professional training/certification in areas related to IT. ? Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) preferred or the ability to become professionally or Commonwealth of Virginia certified within one year. ? Project Management skills. Interview candidates may be required to demonstrate the skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory performance of work. The candidate selected for the position must successfully complete a criminal background investigation and complete and submit a Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) which will be entered into the Federal E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization. The individual may also be responsible for submitting an annual Statement of Personal Economic Interest. In addition, the selected candidate who begins original employment or re-employment in this position must serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment. The anticipated starting salary range is $80,000 to $100,000plus the states benefits package.
