**Job Summary**

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Custodial Services and immediate supervision of the Supervising Custodian, performs custodial, janitorial, and maintenance duties in assigned areas and other related work as assigned.

**Knowledge Skills and Abilities**

Knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and characteristics of surfaces to be cleaned. Ability to perform repeated bending, stooping, lifting, reaching activities. I.e. pushing/pulling fully loaded custodial carts, reaching to clean blackboards, bending and stooping to do spot cleaning, empty trash cans, etc. Ability to read, speak, and understand at a level appropriate to the position. Experience working in a university or large institution. Good interpersonal communication skills. Excellent customer skills. Ability to get along with a diverse campus community. Ability to operate power cleaning equipment. Use custodial systems such as those to track work orders and two way radios for communication. Ability to organize work assignments and custodial closets.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

The salary range for this classification is $3,120 to $4,196 per month.

Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

**Additional Information**

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
